Embracing Failure

Dec 02, 2010 08:50 am

It’s funny and ironic that my book, Embracing Failure: The Way of Success, has been such a failure in terms of market acceptance and sales. It’s a great little book that I put my heart and soul into. I wrote it in a season of failure, persevering daily, teaching myself to continue no matter what.

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” ~ Winston Churchill

“I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” ~ Thomas Edison

“Successful people are successful for one simple reason: they think about failure differently.” ~ Seth Godin

The three quotes illustrate well the point of the book. It’s not a desire to fail, but a willingness, that allows us to quickly and systematically continue to follow our dreams and intents in the face of failures.

It would have been easy for me to abandon my dream of being a successful full time writer after the “failures” of my published books. (Embracing Failure was my third.) But I didn’t stop. Like Edison, like Churchill, like Seth Godin, and like thousands of others both past and present. I published another book a few weeks ago, Lessons from the Universe: Poems of Enlightenment, and have two other books in the works.

Living the concepts of Embracing Failure allows me to see that success, significant success, is still available. It remains available because I cling passionately and fervently to my dream. And my dreams are worth the effort.

What are your dreams? Are you willing to embrace your failures and continue the work of manifesting your dreams?

Love and giggles,
Stevie

I’ll take a look at the book. I’ve also been writing about the topic for half a decade at brucelynnblog.wordpress.com.
